Best Multilingual Website Chatbot (2026): 7 Compared

Seven website chat and voice tools compared on how many languages they publish, how they handle them and what the vendors admit is not covered. 2026-10-14.

Best multilingual website chatbot: seven tools compared

A multilingual chatbot should answer a visitor in their own language, not just translate the interface. Seven tools publish language details: Crisp, AnveVoice, Elfsight, Zendesk, Smartsupp, Freshchat and Dialogflow. Their claims differ in kind, so read them carefully. Researched from the sources below on 2026-10-14. AnveVoice is our product and appears in this list. Other tools are described from their own websites, checked on 2026-10-14. We do not receive payment from any tool listed.

How we chose

Language counts are easy to publish and hard to verify, so we compared what each vendor actually says and how it works. We cannot test every language for every tool, and neither can the vendors' pages.

  • Breadth the vendor publishes, and whether it is a number or only a phrase such as 'multilingual'.
  • Mechanism: native answers in each language, automatic detection, or translation layered on top.
  • Whether the vendor states limits, such as a subset of features per language.
  • Fit for a site owner: does it work without building the language logic yourself?
  • Voice versus text, since speech recognition is harder per language than typing.

The shortlist at a glance

Tools are ordered by fit to the criteria above, not by price or popularity. Pricing columns describe how each vendor charges, using the vendor's own pricing page checked on 2026-10-14.

1. Crisp: translation across 50+ languages for chat teams

Crisp lists translation into more than 50 languages through LiveTranslate and its Multilingual AI, so an agent can read and reply to visitors in their own language. The AI Agent can be trained from a website, PDFs and a Knowledge Base. Pricing is per workspace: Free ($0, 2 seats, no AI credits), Mini $45 a month, Essentials $95 and Plus $295, with extra seats $10 a month. Limitation: this is translation for a chat inbox, not a native multilingual voice experience, and AI credits are metered monthly (Mini includes $5, roughly 90 automated conversations).

2. AnveVoice: voice with 50 core languages and auto-detection

AnveVoice supports 50 core languages with auto-detection, and visitors can speak to it in the browser. Its public agent notes say other languages may work through the underlying model but are not verified, which is a clear statement of the boundary. Pricing is flat: Free $0 (50,000 tokens, 1 bot), Growth $39 a month, Scale $129. It installs with one script tag. Limitation: the dataset names no individual languages for the 50, so check your specific language and accent in a demo. It is website only.

3. Elfsight AI Chatbot Widget: reply in whatever language the visitor writes

Elfsight says its chatbot interface is available in 78 languages and that conversations continue in the visitor's language. You train it on your own files and pages, then paste an embed code into WordPress, Shopify, Wix, Squarespace or custom HTML. A free forever plan includes 50 messages a month; paid plans start at $5 a month billed yearly. Limitation: the vendor does not say how well the AI answers in each language, so test your top three, and the product is text only.

4. Zendesk: 80 languages for AI agents inside a helpdesk

Zendesk states its AI agents support 80 languages and work across messaging, email and voice. Automated resolutions are billed only when the issue is resolved without human escalation, at US$2.00 pay-as-you-go. Support Team starts at US$19 per agent a month billed annually, but that plan has no live chat or messaging; Suite Team is US$55 annual. Limitation: this is a full ticketing suite, heavier than a small site needs, and the AI voice agents require Zendesk Voice, a phone product.

5. Smartsupp: AI that detects the customer's language

Smartsupp's Mira AI agent detects and replies in the customer's language, and the product site itself is offered in nine languages: English, Czech, Spanish, French, Hungarian, Italian, German, Dutch and Polish. Mira trains from website scraping, FAQs and product feeds. Mira is $16 a month for 100 conversations, on top of live chat plans from free to Solo at $17. Limitation: no total language count is published for the AI, and voice is not mentioned.

6. Freshchat: 45+ language translation in messaging

Freshchat says it translates incoming and outgoing messages in over 45 languages (vendor-stated), with multilingual conversations on the Pro plan. The Freddy AI Agent starts on Growth. Plans are per agent per month billed annually: Growth $19, Pro $49, Enterprise $79, with a free plan for up to 10 agents. Limitation: the multilingual conversation feature sits on Pro, so the headline $19 does not include it.

7. Google Dialogflow: the widest language list, if you build it

Dialogflow CX documents about 130 language entries including regional variants, though some features support only a subset. It offers a web Messenger widget, a phone gateway and several integrations, with usage pricing and no seat fees. Chat on Flows is $0.007 a request and voice $0.001 a second; Playbooks are $0.012 a request and $0.002 a second. New users get trial credits. Limitation: it is a builder, not a finished chatbot, and the widget page does not say whether it takes speech input.

How to test a language claim

Pick the three languages that matter most and write ten real visitor questions in each, including one with a regional spelling or a mixed-language phrase. Run them through every tool on your shortlist, and score answers as correct, partly right or wrong. A vendor's number tells you the ceiling; your test tells you the floor. For voice, speak the questions with a normal accent rather than reading text aloud. Speech recognition quality varies by language and accent more than typed chat does.

Common traps

  • Interface languages are not answer languages: a widget in 78 languages may still answer best in a few.
  • Translation layers can make a support agent comfortable without making the bot fluent.
  • A feature that only exists on a higher plan, such as Freshchat's multilingual conversations on Pro, changes the real price.
