AnveVoice

Best Voice AI for WordPress Sites (2026)

Six voice and chat tools that work on a WordPress site, compared on voice in the browser, install effort, free tiers and pricing, from each vendor's own pages.

Best voice AI for WordPress sites: six tools compared

For a WordPress site that wants visitors to talk to it, the practical shortlist is AnveVoice for a ready-made website voice agent, ElevenLabs or Vapi if you have a developer to build one, and Botpress, Tidio or tawk.to if text chat is enough. All six can be added without rebuilding your theme, and each is described below from its own site. Researched from the sources below on 2026-10-14. AnveVoice is our product and appears in this list. Other tools are described from their own websites, checked on 2026-10-14. We do not receive payment from any tool listed.

How we chose

WordPress is the most flexible host in this series: self-hosted sites accept any plugin, so almost any widget can be added. That makes install effort a weaker filter than usual. We therefore weighted the criteria that still separate tools on a WordPress site, and we list only tools whose own pages describe a way to put them on a normal website. Plans differ a lot in what they charge for. Some bill per visitor conversation, some per minute of speech, some per agent seat. We read each vendor's published pricing page on 2026-10-14 and quote the entry price in its own unit rather than converting to a single figure.

  • Voice in the visitor's browser, weighted highest: can a visitor speak to the page, or is the product text only?
  • Install path on WordPress: a plugin or a single pasted tag, versus an API you must wire up yourself.
  • Grounding in your own site content, so the agent answers from your pages rather than guessing.
  • A free tier or trial that lets you test on a real site before paying.
  • Pricing that is published and predictable, with the unit (minutes, conversations, seats) stated.

1. AnveVoice: a finished website voice agent with a WordPress path

AnveVoice is our product, so read this entry with that in mind. Its dataset entry lists a WordPress plugin and a single script tag as the two install routes, and the agent answers from the site's own content and can navigate pages and fill the site's own forms. In the browser, visitors speak and hear replies; the vendor publishes a 487 ms median end-to-end latency on its own site. Pricing, checked 2026-10-14: a Free tier at $0 with 50,000 tokens a month and one bot, no card; Growth at $39 a month for 2M tokens and five bots; Scale at $129 a month for 8M tokens and unlimited bots. Limitation: it covers the website only, with no phone, SMS, WhatsApp or email channel, and it asserts no compliance certifications on its agents page. On WordPress.com you also need a plan that allows plugins, as our install guide explains.

2. ElevenLabs Agents: best voices if you will assemble it yourself

ElevenLabs publishes a customizable web widget that you add to any website, plus phone through SIP trunking or Twilio. Its docs say agent configuration supports 31 languages, and the text-to-speech model is described as covering more than 70. That voice quality is the reason to pick it. Nothing in its documentation mentions a WordPress plugin, so on WordPress you would paste the widget markup into a header-and-footer plugin or a custom HTML block and test it. The published plan ladder on 2026-10-14 starts with a Free plan of 15 call minutes and four concurrent calls, then Starter at $6 a month for 75 minutes, up to Business at $990 a month. Extra minutes cost $0.08 each. Limitation: language-model usage is billed separately, and navigating pages or touching the DOM is something a developer writes as a client tool, not a built-in feature.

3. Vapi: a developer platform with a drop-in browser widget

Vapi documents two web routes: an HTML script tag that loads a widget from a CDN, configured with a public API key and an assistant ID, and the @vapi-ai/web npm package for custom components. A script tag is easy to paste into WordPress with a snippet plugin, which makes Vapi the more approachable of the two developer platforms here. Its price is built from parts. The platform fee is $0.05 per minute, and speech, language-model and telephony costs are passed through at the provider's rate; a pay-as-you-go package starts at $0 with $5 in credits, and a Core plan is $29 a month prepaid (checked 2026-10-14). Limitation: the real cost per minute is noticeably higher than the headline fee, and you must design the assistant, knowledge and fallbacks yourself.

4. Botpress: free-tier builder with a WordPress embedding guide

Botpress builds AI agents for support and deploys them as webchat via a script tag, with CMS guides listed for WordPress, Wix and Webflow. It is the pick when you want a visual builder with actions such as account updates, and when conversations rather than minutes are the unit you want to pay for. The Free plan gives 100 conversations a month, three seats and three AI agents with no overages, while Plus is $150 a month billed annually for 250 conversations (vendor pricing page, 2026-10-14). Limitation: its voice channel appears only on the Enterprise tier, so on a normal WordPress site you are getting text chat, not a talking agent.

5. Tidio: low-cost chat with a WordPress plugin and an AI agent

Tidio is a live chat and helpdesk product with Lyro, an AI agent that answers only from approved sources and hands off with history. Its setup notes list a WordPress plugin, and it is built mainly for small stores, which includes WooCommerce shops on WordPress. The free plan allows 10 seats and 50 billable conversations a month, and Lyro's first 50 conversations are free for life; Starter is shown at $24.17 a month for 100 billable conversations, though the page does not say which billing period that figure reflects (checked 2026-10-14). Limitation: no voice features are mentioned, and Lyro answers in chat without navigating or clicking the visitor's page.

6. tawk.to: free live chat for sites that will staff it

tawk.to gives you a live chat widget, inbox, knowledge base and ticketing for free, installed by pasting one JavaScript snippet; its page lists WordPress among supported platforms. If your goal is simply to be reachable by chat on a small WordPress blog or brochure site, the zero entry cost is hard to beat. Paid extras are optional: AI Assist starts at $29 a month, and hired chat agents start at $1 an hour (2026-10-14). Limitation: phone and voice appear only as a beta item on its pricing page, so treat browser voice as unconfirmed, and the free tier assumes a person on your side answers chats.

WordPress details that change the choice

Self-hosted WordPress.org sites can install any plugin, so every tool above is installable. WordPress.com is stricter: its own guidance says you need at least the Business plan to install your own plugins, and custom JavaScript is not available below that tier on most existing sites. Check the Plugins screen on your plan before you commit to anything. Caching and optimisation plugins are the usual cause of a widget that saves correctly but never appears. If your optimiser combines, delays or minifies scripts, exclude the vendor's script URL from those features and purge the page cache. Block themes also have no footer.php to edit, so a header-and-footer plugin is the safer method for a recent theme.

A simple way to decide

If you want visitors to talk to the site and you have no developer, begin with a tool that ships as a finished agent and test it on the free tier for a week. If you have a developer and care most about voice quality or control, build on ElevenLabs or Vapi and budget for per-minute costs. If you only need text chat, any of the last three will do, and the deciding factor becomes whether you or an AI answers the chats.
