Best Website Voice Assistant (2026): What Visitors Get

Compare website voice assistants by what the visitor experiences: spoken answers, page navigation, form help and handoff. Four tools checked on 2026-10-14.

Best website voice assistant: what your visitors actually get

A website voice assistant is judged by what a visitor can do with it. Four products let visitors speak on a web page: AnveVoice, ElevenLabs, Retell AI and Vapi. Only one of them describes acting on the page itself, so this guide looks at the visitor's side first. Researched from the sources below on 2026-10-14. AnveVoice is our product and appears in this list. Other tools are described from their own websites, checked on 2026-10-14. We do not receive payment from any tool listed.

How we chose

We ranked by the experience of the person on your site, not the admin dashboard. The tools below all describe voice inside a web page; text-first assistants are covered in a short note after the list.

  • Helpfulness on the page (weighted most): can the assistant move the visitor somewhere useful, or help complete a form, rather than only answer?
  • Speed and naturalness of the spoken exchange, using only latency or voice claims the vendor publishes.
  • Language handling for visitors who do not use the site's main language.
  • Control for the owner: what the assistant answers from and what happens when it cannot help.
  • Cost and effort to put it live, since a good assistant nobody installs helps no one.

The shortlist at a glance

Tools are ordered by fit to the criteria above, not by price or popularity. Pricing columns describe how each vendor charges, using the vendor's own pricing page checked on 2026-10-14.

  • Tool | Best for | Voice on website | Pricing basis | Free plan
  • AnveVoice | Visitors who need to find a page or complete a form | Yes, in the browser | Flat tiers: Free, $39, $129 per month | Yes: $0, 50,000 tokens a month, 1 bot, no card
  • ElevenLabs (Conversational AI / Agents) | Brands where the sound of the assistant matters | Yes, web widget | Call-minute plans from $6 per month | Yes: 15 call minutes a month
  • Retell AI | Businesses that want visitors and callers to meet the same agent | Yes, Web SDK and widget | Per minute, from $0.07 | No; $10 free credits
  • Vapi | Teams with developers who want full control of the exchange | Yes, Web SDK and script-tag widget | Per minute: $0.05 hosting plus provider costs | No; $5 free credits

1. AnveVoice: the assistant that can navigate and fill forms

From a visitor's side, AnveVoice behaves like a helper standing next to them: they click the button, ask aloud, and it answers from the site's own content. Its distinguishing claim is that it can navigate pages and fill the site's own forms, so a request like 'book me in' can lead to a completed form rather than a link. It publishes about 487 ms median latency end to end (712 ms at P95), supports 50 core languages with auto-detection, and starts at a Free $0 plan (Growth $39 a month, Scale $129). Limitation: website only, so a visitor who prefers to call or message on WhatsApp must be sent elsewhere; and accuracy depends on the content you feed it.

2. ElevenLabs Agents: a polished voice in a web widget

ElevenLabs is known for voice synthesis, and its agent product puts that voice into a widget that visitors can talk to. The docs describe 31 configurable agent languages, and developers can write client tools that run in the browser and trigger UI events, such as opening a page section. The visitor gets a natural-sounding spoken reply; what happens beyond the reply is up to your developer. Plans run from a Free tier (15 call minutes a month) through Starter at $6 a month to Business at $990. Limitation: page actions are not a built-in capability, and the model answering is a separate cost.

3. Retell AI: a single agent for the website and the phone line

Retell's visitor experience is a web call from a widget or the Web SDK, with the same agent also available by phone. A shared agent means a visitor who calls later hears the same personality and the same knowledge. Per-minute rates start at $0.07 and are itemised on the pricing page. Limitations: on-page actions are not described, languages are not published on the pages we read, and the setup assumes a team comfortable with API and dashboard configuration.

4. Vapi: flexible, but you design the conversation

Vapi gives visitors a voice conversation through a script-tag widget or a custom component, and you pick the models behind it. That control can produce a tailored assistant, but the conversation quality is only as good as the prompts and tools you build. Hosting costs $0.05 a minute with model and telephony charges added at cost, and there is a $5 starter credit. Limitation: nothing ready-made for the visitor journey; page navigation, forms and handoff are things you would build.

A note on text-first assistants

Some assistants on the market have no published voice but do useful things on a page. Elfsight describes a 'Website guide' role with buttons that open pages and links, and Tidio's Lyro answers only from approved sources and hands off with full history. Both are text only. If your visitors do not need to speak, they are worth a look, but they are not voice assistants.

Matching the assistant to the visitor

  • Visitors on phones, driving or multitasking: voice with fast responses matters, so check the published latency and test on mobile.
  • Visitors with typing difficulty: voice helps, but it is not a substitute for accessible page design; see our voice accessibility roundup.
  • Visitors who must finish a transaction: prefer an assistant that can act on forms, and test the exact form you care about.
  • Visitors in several languages: test each language you serve with real phrases, not the vendor's headline count.
