Add a Voice AI Agent to Squarespace (2026)
Add the AnveVoice voice agent to Squarespace through Code Injection: menu path for 7.1 and 7.0, supported plans, page-level code and what breaks.
How to add AnveVoice to a Squarespace site
On Squarespace, paste the AnveVoice tag into the Footer field of the Code Injection panel (in the Pages panel under Custom Code) and save. Code injection needs the Core, Plus or Advanced plan or certain legacy plans, and it does not run on checkout pages. Steps checked against the official documentation on 2026-10-14.
At a glance
- Where the code goes: Pages panel, Custom Code, Code Injection, Footer field (Website Tools on version 7.0)
- Plan limit: Squarespace lists Core, Plus, Advanced and some legacy plans for code injection
- Does not run on: Squarespace checkout pages, which do not support custom code
- Coding needed: None
- Time: About 2 minutes
Before you start
Get your embed ID from app.anvevoice.app (the Free plan costs $0, with 50,000 tokens a month and no card). Squarespace's help centre states that code injection is available on the Core, Plus and Advanced plans and on some legacy billing plans. If your site is on a lower tier, the panel will not be offered and you need to upgrade before this works. Squarespace's own wording says that custom code can break your site's appearance or behaviour, especially on mobile, and its support does not troubleshoot it, so keep a copy of what you add. Squarespace has two site versions. Version 7.1 is what new sites use. Version 7.0 is the older platform. The injection panel lives in a different place in each, described below.
- 1. Copy your tag — Replace YOUR_EMBED_ID with your own. Add &position=bottom-left or &theme=dark if you want. Code: <script src="https://anvevoice.app/embed.js?embedId=YOUR_EMBED_ID" async></script>
Site-wide install with Code Injection
- 1. Open the panel — In the Pages panel click Custom Code at the bottom, then choose Code Injection. On a version 7.0 site click Website Tools in the same panel instead.
- 2. Use the Footer field — Paste the tag into the Footer box. Squarespace places Footer code before the closing body tag, which is where a late-loading widget script belongs. Header code goes in the head of every page; AnveVoice does not need it.
- 3. Keep the script tags — The panel expects valid HTML, and JavaScript wrapped in script tags. The AnveVoice line already includes them.
- 4. Save — Click Save, then check the live site in a private window. If your site is password protected or in a trial, view it as a visitor would to confirm.
Only on certain pages
If you want the voice agent on a single page, for example a services page, use page-level injection instead of the site-wide fields. Squarespace's help describes it this way: hover over the page in the Pages panel, click the gear icon, then Advanced, and use Page Header Code Injection. Be aware that this field writes to that page's head; since the AnveVoice tag is asynchronous, placing it in the head is fine. Blog posts have their own field. Post Blog Item Code Injection, found in the blog page's settings, adds code to every post on that blog. On a version 7.0 site Squarespace notes an exception: with the Grid or list blog layout the code appears on the blog landing page and not on individual posts.
Squarespace behaviours worth knowing
- Checkout is excluded. Squarespace states that checkout pages do not support custom code, so the voice button will not appear at the final payment step. It will still load on product, cart and other store pages.
- Order confirmation pages have their own fields, separate from site-wide injection, so do not paste the tag there unless you want it on those pages only.
- Preview versus live. While you are signed in and editing, the editor can disable scripts. Squarespace shows a Disable Scripts in Preview banner when code might be breaking the editor; that only affects your editing view, not visitors. Open the real URL in a private window to see the live behaviour.
- Version 7.1 and header transparency. For page-level head injection, Squarespace advises against HTML in Page Header Code Injection on 7.1 because it can disappear if header transparency is switched off. A script tag does not trigger that issue, but do not mix visible HTML in there.
- Cookie banners. If you use Squarespace's cookie banner, third-party code you inject is yours to gate. Review how your banner treats scripts added through injection.
Check that it works
- 1. Open a private window — Visit your published domain, signed out of Squarespace.
- 2. Look for the button — The round microphone button sits bottom-right by default.
- 3. Test a question — Click it, allow the microphone (your Squarespace site is served over HTTPS, which is required) and ask about your services.
If the button does not show
- The Code Injection option is missing: your plan is probably below Core,; upgrade or check the plan name under billing.
- It shows in some places and not others: you may have pasted it in a page-level field, not the site-wide Footer.
- The editor looks broken after saving: use the Disable Scripts in Preview banner, or add /safe after /config in the editor URL as Squarespace describes, then remove the faulty code.
- Not on checkout: that is a Squarespace limitation, not an AnveVoice fault.
