Add a Voice AI Agent to Thinkific (Footer Code Guide)

Add the AnveVoice voice agent to a Thinkific school with Site Footer Code: menu path, paid-plan limit, checkout and community exceptions, Course Player notes.

How to add AnveVoice to a Thinkific school

Thinkific has one place for third-party scripts: the Site Footer Code field under Settings, Code & Analytics. Paste the AnveVoice tag there and save. It needs a paid Thinkific plan, and it will not load on the newer Performance Checkout or on community posting pages. Researched from the sources below on 2026-10-14.

At a glance

  • Where the code goes: Settings → Code & Analytics → Site Footer Code
  • Plan needed: A paid Thinkific plan (Thinkific's help articles say Basic or higher)
  • Not covered: Performance Checkout pages, community posting and messaging pages
  • Time: About 2 minutes once you have your embed ID

Before you start

Create your AnveVoice bot at app.anvevoice.app (the Free plan needs no card) and copy the embed ID from the dashboard. You will paste one line of HTML into your school's admin, so keep the tag below ready with your own ID in place of YOUR_EMBED_ID. Thinkific calls its script field Site Footer Code. According to Thinkific's help center, the field is only editable on paid plans, listing Basic and above. If you are on the Free plan the Code & Analytics tab will not let you save a script, so upgrade first or build the page you want elsewhere and link to it.

  • 1. Copy your install tag — Use your own embed ID. Add &position=bottom-left or &theme=dark to the URL if the default bottom-right light button clashes with your school theme. Code: <script src="https://anvevoice.app/embed.js?embedId=YOUR_EMBED_ID" async></script>

Add the tag to Site Footer Code

Thinkific describes this field as code that runs in the footer of every page of your school, including the Course Player, and notes you can run several scripts in it at once. Anything you already have there, such as analytics or a pixel, should stay exactly as it is; add the AnveVoice tag on a new line below it.

  • 1. Open school settings — From your Admin Dashboard, click Settings in the left menu.
  • 2. Go to the Code & Analytics tab — The Site Footer Code field is at the top of that tab.
  • 3. Paste the tag — Click into Site Footer Code and paste the AnveVoice script tag after any existing code. Do not wrap it in extra tags.
  • 4. Save — Click Save. Thinkific does not save code fields automatically, so the tag is not live until you do.

Where the footer code does and does not run

This is the part that surprises most course creators. Thinkific's help articles state that the Site Footer Code is intentionally absent from some pages, so a missing voice button is not always a mistake on your side.

  • Landing pages, course pages, the storefront and the Course Player: the tag loads.
  • Performance Checkout: Thinkific says the footer code does not run here. The older Two-Page Checkout does run it on both checkout pages.
  • Community pages where students post and comment, and direct messaging: footer code is blocked by design.
  • After Purchase Thank You page: the footer code runs, and Thinkific itself suggests this page as the fallback for tracking scripts that cannot live on checkout.

The Course Player is a single-page app

Thinkific warns that the Course Player behaves as a single-page application and that the footer code only runs on page load. For AnveVoice this is mostly good news: the script loads when a student opens the player, and moving between lessons does not need to reload it. Scripts that must react to every lesson change are the ones that get tricky; a voice agent that answers questions about your school is not one of them. Decide whether you want the agent inside lessons at all. A student who is mid-lesson may find a microphone button distracting, and you can only choose between everywhere the footer code runs or nowhere. If you need it on marketing pages only, put the tag on a separate site that links to your Thinkific school instead.

Check that it works

  • 1. Open the school in a private window — Visit your school's public URL while logged out so cached admin sessions do not mislead you.
  • 2. Look for the microphone button — A round button appears bottom-right by default. Click it, allow microphone access and ask a question about your courses.
  • 3. Test a course page and the player — Open a course sales page, then enroll in a free test course to confirm the button also shows in the Course Player.

Common problems

  • Button missing on checkout: if you use Performance Checkout this is expected. Switch to Two-Page Checkout or accept that checkout is voice-free.
  • Save works but nothing appears: confirm you pasted into Site Footer Code, not a theme or custom-CSS box, and that you are on a paid plan.
  • Button shows on the site but not in the community: community posting pages block footer code.
  • Microphone prompt never appears: Thinkific schools use HTTPS, but if you view the school through a custom domain without a valid certificate, browsers block the microphone.
