AnveVoice

Add a Voice AI Agent to Square Online (2026 Guide)

Add the AnveVoice voice agent to a Square Online site with Tracking Tools: Channels → Square Online → Settings → Tracking Tools, End of body, then publish.

How to add AnveVoice to a Square Online site

Square Online lets you add your own header or footer code from the Square Dashboard. Go to Channels → Square Online → Settings → Tracking Tools, choose Add new code, set the position to End of body, paste the AnveVoice tag, save, and publish the site from the editor. Steps checked against the official documentation on 2026-10-14.

At a glance

  • Where the code goes: Square Dashboard → Channels → Square Online → Settings → Tracking Tools → Add new code
  • Coding needed: None; a name, the code and a position
  • Plan limits: Square's US article lists Free, Plus and Premium; its Ireland, Canada and Australia articles list Plus and Premium only
  • Time: About 2 minutes, then a publish

Before you start

Create an AnveVoice account at app.anvevoice.app and copy the embed ID. The Free AnveVoice plan is $0 and takes no card, so there is no cost on that side while you try it with a Square Online site. Square Online is a WYSIWYG site editor tied to your Square account. Square's help center is explicit that it cannot help with custom code of any kind; it can only tell you where code can be used. That makes the exact placement below more important than usual, because support will not debug the script for you.

  • 1. Copy the tag — Here is the full line. Replace YOUR_EMBED_ID with the ID from the dashboard. Append &position=bottom-left or &theme=dark if you want the button on the other side or a dark panel. Code: <script src="https://anvevoice.app/embed.js?embedId=YOUR_EMBED_ID" async></script>

Which Square plan allows it

The help article "Add custom tracking codes to your online store" states who it is for. The US version names Square Online Free, Plus and Premium subscribers. The versions for Ireland, Canada and Australia name only Plus and Premium. Square publishes the same article number in each country with different audience lines, so the plan you need depends on your region. Because the regional pages disagree, treat your own Dashboard as the authority: open Channels → Square Online → Settings → Tracking Tools. If Add new code is present, you can use it. Account owners or team members need online permissions, which are set in Square Dashboard.

Add the tag in Tracking Tools

Square's article advises leaving these fields blank unless you have been given code to insert, and never using them for keywords or generic text. Only paste the single AnveVoice script line here.

  • 1. Open Square Online settings — Sign in to Square Dashboard and go to Channels → Square Online.
  • 2. Select Tracking Tools — Choose Settings, then Tracking Tools.
  • 3. Choose Add new code — A pop-up asks for the code's name and the code itself. Name it AnveVoice voice agent.
  • 4. Set the position — Select head to place it in the header or End of body to place it in the footer. Choose End of body.
  • 5. Save, then publish — Select Save. Square says that you must publish your site from the site editor for the change to go live, so open the editor and publish.

Tracking Tools versus the Embed code section

Square separates two kinds of custom code. Tracking Tools is for invisible code that belongs in the header or footer, such as analytics or a pixel. The Embed code section (Website → Edit site → Add → Section → Embed code) is for visible widgets like a calendar or reservation form, and Square lists it for Plus and Premium subscribers on the page we checked. The AnveVoice button is a floating widget loaded by a script rather than a block you lay out, so Tracking Tools is the correct home: it applies across the site and does not occupy space on a page. If your plan lacks Tracking Tools and has the Embed code section, you could place the tag in an Embed section on individual pages. That works page by page, so it is a fallback rather than a recommendation.

Check that it works

  • 1. Open the published site in a private window — Square Online changes appear only after you publish. Test from the public address.
  • 2. Look for the voice button — It sits bottom-right by default. Click it, allow microphone access, and ask a question such as your opening hours or delivery options.
  • 3. Test the shop pages — Open an item page and the cart; a footer-level code should load across the site.

Common problems on Square Online

  • No Tracking Tools entry: your region's plan rules may exclude your plan, or you lack online permissions in Dashboard.
  • Saved but not visible: the site was not published after saving. Publish from the site editor.
  • Odd behaviour after adding code: Square warns that code can affect your website's function and offers no help with it. Remove the entry to confirm whether it is the cause.
  • Two buttons: the tag was added both in Tracking Tools and an Embed code section. Keep the Tracking Tools one.
  • Microphone blocked: use the https address of your Square Online site and accept the browser prompt.
